King salmon are scheduled for release today, that effort under the directive of the local charter community. Chance of an inch or so of area wide snow tonight on the Lake Ontario plain with 2-3 inches expected to the south. Even after that thru the upcoming weekend I still wouldnt call it cold just seasonably cool and continued dry. Most fish came from 50-90 down (44 degrees to 60-degree water) under 74-degree surface waters. Nice to see some chances spread thru the watercourse now with fish that are all mostly in good shape. Sandy Creek has been the most consistent brown trout action so thats where most of the fishing pressure has been. Remember as these kings start to stage that their preferred water temps are also changing. The next significant rise in flows may bring on some fresh steelhead action thru Mar. May 21st is the scheduling for the canal opening. Look for flows in the Oak to go from the slightly high flows we have now to med and 2 3 ft of visibility. If theres significant rain ahead of or instead of the ice/snow, then trib flows could be on the rise and going off color. First week of Sep 2019 with lots more chances ahead. The other area smaller tribs are prob going to try and open back up from previous icing with high and dirty flows. When high flows drop and/or cold flows warm and/or dirty water clears then anglers who can make good drifts or swings get in on the action.
